Phase II. The RAISE Re-Entry Center & Community Job Placement Service
Any RAISE Program participant that has been enrolled in the Department Of Labor's Apprenticeship (or Journeyman) Program and completed approximately one half of the hours required toward that certification is eligible to submit an application to the RAISE Residential Re-Entry Center. RAISE therapeutic living community case managers will submit a special request for the maximum one year community release provision on behalf of each qualified applicant. The maximum allotment of time will provide program participants an opportunity to address any additional vocational training, cognitive therapy, and community job placement needs they may have.
The Re-Entry Center is meant to provide a fluid transition from the re-entry efforts that began in earnest while in prison and must provide all participants with an opportunity to acquire some on-the-job experience and positive employment history.
It is the goal of the RAISE Re-Entry Center to establish contracts with local community businesses that are committed to supporting federal re-entry efforts. These businesses will be eligible to receive tax credits and grants, available through the Second Chance Act, that should greatly encourage their involvement with the center.
RAISE Program participants will be expected to contribute to community businesses as role model employees but are also strongly encouraged to volunteer for any state and federal projects that are accepted by the Center. The RAISE Re-Entry Center will provide men leaving prison an opportunity and to repair their reputations and to establish themselves as valuable members of their communities.
